Fluorinated PBDEs
Some research suggests that a fluorine derivatives of the PBDE parent compound could be used as an internal standard for PBDE analysis, replacing the more costly 13C labeled PBDEs currently used. In addition, FBDEs can be used for ECD (Electron Capture Detection) analysis where the more expensive 13C labeled PBDEs cannot. Experimental testing also suggests that the use of FBDEs as internal standards show improved precision in PBDE analysis.
