Phthalate Standards Reference Guide NEW Benzene dicarboxylic acid is equivalent to phthalic acid. Reacting phthalic acid with a variety of alcohols results in the synthesis of a group of chemicals designated as phthalic acid esters or phthalates. Phthalates are used primarily as plasticizers. Plasticizers lower the glass transition temperature of a plastic/polymer and impart flexibility, durability and longevity to these types of products by acting as softening agents. Due to their low-cost, versatility and effectiveness, phthalates are widely used in plastics manufacturing, in pharmaceutical coatings, in all types of packaging, in inks, in textiles and as gelling agents. They are end-use components of electronics, paints, adhesives, building materials, cleaning products and toys to name just a few. Phthalates are now separated into two distinct classes according to the length of the precursor alcohol. The lower molecular weight (LMW) phthalates, including di-butyl, benzyl butyl and diethyl hexyl are made from alcohols with three to six carbon backbones. View | Download PDF | Request Copy |

Explosive Standards Reference Guide AccuStandard offers a comprehensive listing of explosive standards traditionally used for the remediation of soil and water in locations where explosives have been stored. These standards are also used to calibrate baggage screening detectors at airports and other secure locations (embassies and other government buildings) and the training of animals to sniff out dangerous compounds by police departments and the military. Among the 60 single analyte compounds offered as dilute solutions are TATP, TEGDN, HMTD, PETN and HNS. Mixtures designed for US EPA Methods 8330, 8095 and 529, German DIN 38407-21 are also available. New standards include Erythritol tetranitrate (ETN) and Hexahydro-1,3-trinitroso-1,3,5-triazine, Hexamethylene diperoxide diamine (HMDD) and New Gun Surveillance standards (inorganic and organic). BioFuels Brochure Biofuels, including Biodiesels, are processed from many different biomasses and are analyzed in refinery laboratories for many of the same reasons that petroleum products are analyzed. The Biofuels line is the most comprehensive available and includes FAME Mixtures for the most popular biomass sources, FAEE Mixtures, standards for Sulfur analysis, Physical standards and Wear Metal standards. Custom formulations are available. Standards for ASTM and European EU methods are also included. View | Download PDF | Request Copy |

Allergen Brochure Standards include those found in everything from shampoos to skin creams. Since personal care products have proliferated, we look better and smell better. However, the average person is now exposed to significantly higher levels of chemicals than people were exposed to only a generation ago. The resulting synergistic effect, coupled with environmental exposure to chemicals, is the focus of an ever increasing number of studies. View | Download PDF | Request Copy |
