Tech Note
M-556 was designed to meet both versions of the carbonyl method. The difference between method 556 and 556.1 is that crotonaldehyde has been removed from the 556.1 method. Per method M-556, a procedural calibration standard should be carried through the entire extraction and derivatization procedure associated with the samples. The oxime derivatives are analyzed by GC/ECD.
