Simulated Distillation (SIM DIS) Standards
Simulated Distillation (SIM DIS), also known as Gas Chromatographic Distillation (GCD), is an analytical technique that uses gas chromatography to simulate physical distillation by separating hydrocarbons according to boiling point. Retention times are correlated to normal boiling points using calibration standards. SIM DIS methods such as ASTM D2887 and D3710 are widely used to characterize petroleum product blends, predict ASTM D86 curves, and monitor process optimization.
